That was quite a coup, getting Bon Jovi on the cover...
Said it before, Mister Kitty, and I'll say it again: you do the world a great service in sharing these little steaming turdpiles. Your choices of comix to scan are brilliant and your comments on the work are always insightful. This one -- and a few others you've deftly skewered lately -- have struck special chords with me because back in the late 80s I drew a book that, well, had it ever been published it would have ended up here, and would have deserved whatever savaging you gave it. Keep up the good work of dissuading others from tackling this medium if they don't know how to use it.
That's where we walk the tightrope, sometimes; we're cartoonists ourselves and we've published work that we probably shouldn't have at one time or another. Someday somebody will probably dig it up and make fun of us for it, and we'd deserve it. I don't mean to discourage people from drawing comics - I think EVERYBODY should draw comics - but I think certainly there's a level of competence that needs to be achieved before you start asking people to pay money for your work, before your work gets into the distribution system and starts taking up shelf space and retailer's cashflow. Of course this was completely ignored in the 1980s by a lot of greedy retailers, unethical publishers, and naive cartoonists, and that's what we're trying to express.
