Sharpiemania

There's some stark black and white at tonight's Stupid Comics!!

  1. I recall issues 1 and 2 of "Jontar" languishing on the shelves at the Bookshelf in Tallahassee over 20 years ago, next to another amateur B&W comic called "Combat Area."
Billie Miller and "Mature Magic" are right up there (or down there) with John Jacobs and "Madison Comics" (perpetrators of "Astroman"). Both individuals used to advertise regularly in CBG, either peddling their wares or looking for talent....

  2. Would I rather have an issue of Jontar, or painful rectal itch? I'm thinking, I'm thinking.

  3. I'd rather have Flucker's Jam....

  4. Oh, and isn't Tony Lorenz's "art" style almost identical to that of "RawDog" (of "Real Deal")? One wonders if Lorenz and RawDog are one and the same... nahhhh....

Lorenz advertised another project of his in '80s CBG issues: "Savage World," sort of Jontar in reverse, as regular-guy heroes Jimi Young and Eddie "Slick" Walker found themselves in a Cimmeria/Pellucidar-type realm.

(BTW, I visited the Bookshelf yesterday for the first time in years... still in business, still looked and smelled the same.)
