I feel Kinda robbed by stupid comics this week, I was really looking forward to some old timey cowboy action.
Hello there. I've noticed you don't get very many comments at all on your journaly-webloggy-updatey thing here, so I thought I should say this. I really, really enjoy your Stupid Comics feature, and I greatly look forward to your updates of it. I really enjoy the funny and witty commentary you put on it, and it's always a thrill to see these really obscure comics in their forms. I don't know how much feedback or traffic you get, but I just wanted to say, I truly love and look forward to every installment of Stupid Comics. Especially since Superdickery decided to Supersuck. I can't tell you how many times I've read through the back archives just to get a chuckle out of things like ROCK HEADS and THOR and various other things, I can't even remember them off the top of my head, all the ridiculousness. The comic written by the guy who was clearly doing a wish-fullfilment fantasy and had the 'writer's comments' on every page, that stuff is great and I love that you bring it to share with us like this. You really are one of the few spots on the web I look forward to seeing an update from. I also really appreciate that you clearly have a depth of knowledge and understanding and even respect for all the material you cover, it's so great to see someone knowledgeable about a subject riffing on it. Sometimes I even run a random number generator with the number of posts you've done, and use it to come up with a random Stupid Comic to read. Perhaps you could have a Random Comic thingie... I dunno, call it Stupid Comic Roulette or some such. Anyway, please, keep up the good work, I look forward to it so!
Thanks Rich! While we'd always love more, we get a decent amount of traffic but never enough feedback, so we really appreciate your comment. May look into a "random page" generator...
Wow, gosh, one of my favourite websites responded to me! It pains me to see you putting up all this effort and such, and having it be so barren of comments that I decided I should make myself known. I feel all excited and such. As an author myself, I have used many of your 'Stupid Comics' as a guideline to 'how to not suck at writing'. And such. Really, seeing you take such a profound love to these comics, as stupid as they are, is really enjoyable. And the commentary and wit are just superb, I really like the snarkiness you include. Really, I'll be honest, I only come here for the Stupid Comics and your witty commentary on them. So I don't know if that makes it such a bad thing maybe, I sort of glance at the other stuff but really. Anyway, I always look forward to a new Stupid Comic and it's really a delight to see that hyperlink is NEW and not-already-visited.
Thanks again Rich, and don't worry if you only read Stupid Comics. There generally isn't that much crossover among readers of the various sections of our website.
I pretty much agree with Rich... I also tend to look back on my favorite Stupid Comics articles, including those devoted to the detritus of the '80s Comics Glut (Jontar, The Quadro Gang, The Protectors, etc.) Oh, and "Team Anarchy," where everyone has 88 teeth and no gums.Since you've focused on Solson several times, you should write about their most infamous comic: "Reagan's Raiders"!
Yeah, all that 80s linework-only stuff is super great, all the huge dialogues cramming in backstories that people think will care, and unrealistic body poses, it's just hilarious. I would totally look forward to more of that. Reagan's Raiders? That already sounds hilarious...!
Yup, it's a real winner, where Ronbo gets shot up with some serum like Captain America, wears what appears to be a male Wonder Woman costume, and becomes a super-prez out to kick terrorist butt! And your surname reminds me of another '80s era comic, "Rob Hanes," which was a sort of Jonny Quest ripoff.
